Consider the quote below and test it against your own experience.
When you are judging another person, is it coming from fear? What about when you think you are better than someone else? And how can you really know when you are afraid and what is it like to own up to that fact?

“ There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life. ”

January 5, 2010I'd never heard that quote by John Lennon, but that's an idea I've understood for a few years.
Anytime I'm feeling reactive, or incongruent, I ask myself “Am I acting out of fear right now? What is it I'm afraid of?”
And then I might ask myself “How might things be different if I dropped the fear, and acted out of an open heart instead?”
Often, paradoxically, fear arises out of the possibility of losing love. For example, I might be afraid of speaking my truth to someone because they might become offended, and then…they won't love me anymore!
And that brings it back to what John Lennon said…it's an old cliché, but so true…love yourself. Be unconditional love, always.
If you want it, be it.

January 10, 2010A very, very wise man, what a shame he didn't have more time to spread his word. Thanks for reminding us all of his wisdom and love. Jamie
